Katrina Duncan, M.S., LPC

Founder & Lead Therapist at The Freed Mind Group

"This work is not just a job or career—it’s my life’s ministry, a calling to support healing and transformation at the deepest level."

My Counseling Philosophy

I believe that hurt minds need a safe place to be vulnerable enough to heal.
At the heart of my work is the client–therapist relationship—built on trust, acceptance, and unconditional positive regard. My clients know they can show up fully as themselves and be met with warmth, honesty, and compassion. That kind of safety creates the foundation for real transformation.

I see therapy as sacred work—a partnership where you learn to understand your thoughts, emotions, and patterns through a lens of grace and truth. Healing happens when we no longer have to carry our burdens alone.

My Approach to Therapy

I’m very eclectic in my approach to therapeutic interventions. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Mindfulness, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), IFS (Internal Family Systems), and theological insight when applicable.

My approach is both structured and intuitive—balancing evidence-based techniques with deep emotional and spiritual understanding.

I often help clients explore their inner child, attachment style, and personality patterns to uncover what has been shaping their relationships and sense of self. This work allows for greater self-awareness, emotional freedom, inner peace, and the power to live more fully and intentionally.

My style is compassionate, energetic, and nonjudgmental—I don’t just “sit and nod.” Together, we’ll get to the heart of what’s been holding you back and work toward meaningful, lasting change.

Specialties

I work with:
• Couples seeking connection, communication, and trust
• Adults with childhood trauma or unresolved attachment wounds
• Individuals struggling with anxiety, stress, or depression
• Clients navigating grief, loss, or major life transitions
• Faith-informed counseling for those who desire a Christian perspective

A Little About Me

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor and the owner of The Freed Mind Group, PLLC. I hold a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling and have nearly 20 years of experience—nine of which I spent as a school counselor before founding this practice to focus on holistic emotional growth.

I’m a proud wife and mother of six, including four amazing bonus sons. Family is at the center of my heart, and when I can, traveling has a strong grasp on my spirit.

I know firsthand that deciding to go to therapy isn’t easy. We often don’t realize how deeply life’s experiences have affected us or how heavy the weight has become. I’ve carried my own share of life’s ups and downs, and I’ve learned that the mind’s greatest desire is freedom—freedom to think clearly, feel deeply, and live unhindered.

That’s the heartbeat of this work: helping people find freedom.

Let’s Work Together

I don’t believe you landed on this page by chance.
If you’re here, something inside you knows it’s time to heal, grow, and live differently. It would be my honor to walk beside you on that journey.
